FAQs

What age is Rollerskate Reading for?

Our sessions are ideal for kids ages 4–7 who are just beginning to learn how to read or need extra support with early phonics skills! However we have extra programs for all ages in most subjects (homework help, science, Spanish, math) -- just ask!

Can you help with homework too?

Yes! While reading is the focus, I also offer support with Spanish, science, math, and social studies—just let me know what your child needs.

How long are the sessions?

Session lengths vary by age to match attention spans and learning needs:

  • Grades K–5: 30 minutes

  • Grades 6–8: 40 minutes

  • Grades 9 and up: 50 minutes

Each session is designed to be focused, engaging, and developmentally appropriate.

Do I need to prepare anything for the session?

Nope! Just have your child in a quiet space, camera on, and steady internet connection. We’ll take care of the rest—including the fun!

How is this different from other tutoring programs?

We combine structured literacy methods (like Orton-Gillingham) with playful, personalized activities that keep kids engaged and motivated. It’s reading—but on roller skates! 🛼📚

How quickly will my child start reading?

Most new readers begin reading simple CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant) words and sentences within 4–6 sessions, depending on their age, readiness, and consistency.

Can I track my child’s progress?

Yes! After each session, you’ll receive a brief update highlighting what we worked on and your child’s progress. We love celebrating every win—big or small!

What’s your cancellation policy?

A 24-hour notice is required if you need to cancel or reschedule a session—unless there’s an emergency. This gives me time to offer the spot to another family. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice will still be charged:

  • If on a package, the session will be deducted from your total.

  • If you're paying per session, it will be billed as usual.

Do you offer one-on-one or group sessions?

All regular sessions are one-on-one, giving your child personalized instruction and support. Group sessions are offered during special programs, like summer reading camps—join the newsletter to stay updated!
